"This is called the bliss of renunciation, the bliss of seclusion, the bliss of peace, the bliss of enlightenment. I say of this kind of pleasure that it should be pursued, that it should be developed, that it should be cultivated, and that it should not be feared."
(Middle Length Discourses 139 - Araṇavibhaṅga Sutta)
Dhammanikhom is a nunnery (Bhikkhunī-Ārāma) in the Theravada Buddhist tradition and belongs to the ordination lineage of the Sinhalese Bhikkhuni-Sangha (Dambulla Siam Mahanikaya).
Here, the monastic contemplative life dedicated to the study and practice of the teachings of the Blessed Buddha (Dhamma) is promoted.
In particular, it is a place of residence for a community of Buddhist nuns who feel connected to the Vipassana tradition of the Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo). Nuns who have been ordained elsewhere and would like to get to know Dhammanikhom during a guest stay should contact the nunnery and address their inquiry to the abbess / spiritual director.
Women can follow the monastic path here and be ordained, trained, and live as Buddhist nuns.
Lay practitioners are welcome to practice together at the nunnery at certain times.
At certain times the community also offers Vipassana meditation courses (insight or mindfulness meditation), which are suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners and are open to anyone who wishes to register. Furthermore there are external teaching activities.
Monks and nuns from other traditions and monasteries are also welcome to register for a stay at the nunnery or a meditation course. To do so, they must either already be independent or have the permission of their teacher or home monastery.
